Commonly Asked Medical Questions

I am healthy and have no major problems. Why should I join your program?

Health is more than the absence of disease. Being healthy means you probably don't have any symptoms. It doesn't mean you're healthy, it simply means you have no obvious disease or complaints. You are losing your health everyday. It's happening slowly and in paralell with others around you so you don't recognize it, but you will. You probably already know the things you can't do as well as you once did. The abilities that you've lost are a subtle indication of losing your health. The changes in your appearance are a subtle sign of losing your health. The loss of elasticity or energy producing abilities are not only happening iin your skin and muscle, they are happening to the valves in your heart, the cells in your gut and the neurons in your brain. Life slips away and eventually causes symptoms. By the time they occur it is usually too late to recover. Be realistic and intelligent, do all you can to save your health. Being healthy is the basis of your personal freedom and the core of your dignity. Don't let that go passively, come to LifeSpan and work with me to slow that process and be the healthiest most vital person you can for as long as possible.

What diseases do you treat?

We neither focus upon nor ignore disease. Disease is a loss of health and function that has concentrated in one organ or system. We do our best to help you regain as much health and function as possible. We have helped people reverse Type IIb diabetes and overcome chronic fatigue. We've helped improve arthritis and solved lots of digestive disorders. We don't specialize in disease, we specialize in health but we don't discriminate. We would never turn someone away because of a diagnosis. I believe everyone can improve his or her health regardless of age or disease diagnosis and we are ready to help you do that.

Do you do hormone replacement?

We absolutely do hormone replacement. Hormones are second only to the brain in their power to regulate body activities and maintain health. Hormone replacement should only be used when benefits outweigh the risks. We increase the benefits and lessen the risk by carefully characterizing each clients needs and personal risk factors. Safe and effective hormone replacement requires an individual evaluation and ongoing monitoring. All aspects of hormone use from family history to the individual nutrients needed to properly respond and metabolize hormones are tested and known before beginning replacement. Periodic monitoring of these levels in addition to monitoring how you are feeling and looking for the earliest signs or symptoms of an adverse reaction are essential parts of our program. We use, and have only used, natural hormones for all 12 years of our existence.

Do you prescribe vitamins?

Yes we do. Until recently conventional medicine regarded the need for vitamin supplementation as unnecessary. To the appall of many, the most prestigious institutions in medicine discouraged people from supplementation. All that has changed. In 2002 an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association stated that all adults should take a multi-vitamin because it was no longer possible to obtain sufficient nutrient value from food alone. We test vitamin and other nutrient levels and the damage they are supposed to neutralize and prescribe individualized nutritional supplement programs customized for each person and update that information and prescription at each exam. To improve and ensure compliance and guarantee the quality of each nutrient we dispense these from our own closed door pharmacy.

Why do most people come to see you?

Most people come to LifeSpan because they don't feel as good as they think they can or because they feel badly and want to feel better. Once in a while we see a person who feels great and wants help maintaining that but usually it's because he or she wants to feel better in some way or achieve a higher level of ability.

What is the average age of your clients?

We have clients of all ages.

What is the best age to begin your program?

Whatever age you are is best. In fact don't wait another month. The greatest period of acceleration of physiological loss, a technical way of saying "aging" is between 30 and 34. During this 5 years you lose more physiological function than in any 5 year period of your life. That's not to say that if you are 35 and not among our clients that we can't help. Our clients range in age from 5 to 96 years of age and we are helping everyone of them enjoy better health. The benefits of LifeSpan are both immediate and long term. There is no better age then now to begin.

How long should I remain in your program?

Until you no longer want to be as healthy as possible. Until you no longer value the freedom and independence your health provides. LifeSpan strives continually to deliver leading edge technologies and strategies for improving your health and avoiding disease. You should be with us for life and we will do our best to see that is a very, very long time.
